Professor Catherine Bennett is the inaugural chair in Epidemiology, and was Head of the School of Health and Social Development from 2010 to 2019. Catherine is head of Deakin Epidemiology, a research unit within the Determinants of Health group in the Institute for Health Transformation.

With a distinguished career in public health practice, research, academic governance and teaching, Catherine is an authority in her field.

Join us as she discusses what Epidemiology is and where is plays a crucial role in past, present and future pandemics

  • Who is at greatest risk for selected health-related states or events
  • How epidemiology can determine the extent of public health problems
  • How to communicate those at risk

By understanding which diseases are responsible for a significant or increasing health burden in specific populations or across the entire community, and investigating ways to reduce this burden, epidemiological research helps set the agenda for other forms of research, clinical interventions, and public health policies.

An exceptional opportunity to hear from an expert and join in a live question session to understand more.
