By Julie Harvey

The Association of Biosafety for Australia and New Zealand (ABSANZ) is seeking nominations from motivated and enthusiastic members to fill three (3) Elected Director positions becoming available at the AGM (Annual General Meeting) to be held on November 11, 2021.

The ABSANZ Board has overall responsibility for the governance of the Association and its strategic development and growth. Key functions and actions are delegated to several Committees and Association Management.

The key objectives of ABSANZ include:

  • Building expertise within the biosafety community through local and global collaboration
  • Seeking consistency across the regulatory environment through understanding the goals and challenges of the sector
  • Delivering high quality educational tools
  • Providing networking opportunities
  • Disseminating information and advocating on behalf of members and the community

To ensure that the Board has the right balance of capability and viewpoints to effectively lead the Association into the future, ABSANZ is seeking nominations from individuals with a range of qualifications, skills and experience. As outlined  in the ABSANZ Director Nomination Form, prior Board experience is not a pre-requisite, and the time commitment expected would be less than one (1) hour per week, on average over a year.

For Elected Directors, the Board presents an opportunity to participate in, and contribute to the future, growth and strategic direction of ABSANZ. Lend your skills and voice in a meaningful way to the "peak body and leading voice of biosafety and biosecurity".

Applications sent in confidence to julie@absanz.org.au should be received no later than COB October 14, 2021 .
