Bernadette has worked as a Biosafety Advisor for the past 15 years, currently for Curtin University and previously for the University of Western Australia.  She is a Member of the ABSANZ Membership Development & Outreach Committee (MDOC) and a previous ABSANZ Board Director (2018-2023).  Bernadette thinks space is cool and was excited to play a small part in space research when she organised the Defence Trade Controls Permit for Western Australia's first satellite launch of the Binar-1 satellite in 2021.  Since then, she has advised on the design of a cleanroom for the Binar Space Program to build future satellites destined for return to Earth, and has become a passionate advocate for biosecurity between Earth and space.
