Call for Abstracts Now Open

Theme: Future-Proofing Biosafety - Adapting to A World of Disruption and Change

Dear Colleagues,

We are excited to announce the 13^th ABSANZ Conference: ‘Future-Proofing Biosafety - Adapting to a World of Disruption and Change’ to be held in Sydney, 27^th to 31^st of October 2025.

We invite you to submit your abstracts for consideration. This year’s theme aims to explore the dynamic landscape of biosafety, and the innovative solutions required to navigate it.

Abstracts are now invited on topics relating to the theme of the conference, with a focus on topics listed below. Please consider the theme of the conference when preparing and submitting your abstract.

Conference Topics:

• Integration of artificial intelligence in laboratories 
• Advancements in synthetic and de novo biology
• Development of new containment technologies
• Adapting to evolving regulatory landscapes
• Other topics related to current challenges, disruptors and novel developments in biosafety and biosecurity

We welcome submissions from researchers, practitioners, and industry experts who are at the forefront of biosafety and biosecurity advancements, challenges and developments. Don’t miss this opportunity to share your insights and ideas with your colleagues, and to contribute to the ongoing conversation on continual improvements in biosafety and biosecurity across Australia, New Zealand, and around the globe.

Submission Guidelines:

• Abstracts should be no more than 300 words.
• Include the title, author(s), and affiliation(s).
• Submit your abstract by Friday 9th May 2025 5pm (AEST) via the form below.
• This year there are several scholarship opportunities available. Please ensure you read the guidelines attached to each scholarship prior to applying.

Join us in this important dialogue and share your insights on how we can collectively adapt to and overcome future challenges in biosafety.

Peer Review Process:

All submitted abstracts will undergo a peer review process conducted by the conference committee. Each abstract will be evaluated based on its relevance to the conference theme and adherence to the submission guidelines. Once the review process is complete, you will be notified of the outcome.
