The Association of Biosafety for Australia and New Zealand (ABSANZ) is a single-entity, not-for-profit organisation incorporated under the Australian Corporations Act. It is governed by the ABSANZ Board of Directors.
During 2018, the ABSANZ Board of Directors worked to review and update the governance and structure to ensure the organisation remained sustainable and able to grow in the future. The ABSANZ Board continues to have full responsibility for the operations of the organisation and to delegate as it sees fit in order to ensure the organisation achieves its objectives. This work was undertaken to ensure ABSANZ complies with contemporary good governance principles and to enable ABSANZ to become more responsive to the needs of our members. Some modifications of the Constitution were subsequently ratified by members at the 2020 Annual General Meeting.
