Regulators
- The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) (administers the Biosecurity Scheme) is massive – with the biosecurity controls relating to importation of risk biologicals (import permits and higher risk materials needing to be handled in specialised containment facilities) being only a small but high risk part of what the Department is responsible for. I would select ‘Biosecurity Matters’ and perhaps the Import Industry Advice Notices. The latter have relevant information from time to time – but most of them wont be relevant and so perhaps the RLC needs to allocate the review of these to a member (such as Ann, Amy or Lynda when she joins as they will be checking them as part of their roles and will be able to flag when something comes up to share)
- The following pages may be worth considering to link to from the website: Legislation (noting that only a subset of the information listed is actually relevant to biological imports).
- The Australian Centre for Disease Control (CDC) (administers the SSBA Regulatory Scheme). I would email them at ssba@cdc.gov.au and ask to be added as a recipient for the SSBA Newsletter and be notified of any legislative consultations.
